Mexican government has sharply raised its official tally of confirmed swine flu cases from 99 to 260, of which 12 were fatalities. According to AFP, its previous figure on Wednesday of confirmed infections was 99, including a confirmed death toll of eight.
Health Minister, Jose Angel Cordova, told a news conference on Thursday that '260 cases have been confirmed with the new human influenza virus, of these, 12 have lost their lives'.
He added that the tally of deaths considered probably due to the flu, but not confirmed - remained at 84.
Meanwhile, Mexico's traditional May 1 workers' marches and rallies have been canceled nationwide to avoid spreading the deadly virus.
