Hurricane Norbert made landfall over mainland Mexico early Sunday morning but is weakening. According to the US National Hurricane Center in Miami, the Category 1 hurricane's center made landfall about 25 miles southeast of Huatabampo around midnight Sunday with maximum winds near 85 mph.
The center said: Since then, the hurricane's maximum winds have decreased to near 75 mph and that rapid weakening is likely as the hurricane moves over Mexico's mountainous terrain.
