Mexican President Felipe Calderon has termed the immigration act in the State of Arizona as racist.

Calderon, who is visiting the US, in an interview with CNN, said he is not against the rules and regulations of another country, but the point of importance is that the issue of immigration should be studied completely and comprehensively in order to serve the people and the interests of the related country.

Calderon noted that the controversial Arizona immigration act provokes public opinion in Mexico and other countries, across the world.

He went on to note that the Mexican Foreign Ministry has warned Mexican nationals against traveling to Arizona, while adding that Mexicans spend almost $3bn in Arizona per annum, which is an enormous help to the economy of this region in the US.

The Arizona immigration act obliges the Police to interrogate so-called suspicious immigrants. Based on this law, the workers, who are working illegally across the US, will be detained if they apply for work at the State of Arizona, and the police centers will be legally pursued if they do not execute this law.
