Pope Francis, in a private audience, received the agreement signed by World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman, along with Don Jose Maria del Corral, President of the Scholas Occurrentes Pontifical Foundation.

As the inspiration and founder of the Scholas World Congress, the Holy Father Pope Francis has received in a private audience to Don Mauricio Sulaiman, World Boxing Council President, as he will be collaborating with the Pontifical Foundation in development spreading activities that promote social integration.

Scholas is an International Pontifical non-profit entity in favor of the society. It works with schools and in the educational community, public and private, of all religions. It links to more than 400.000 schools in 87 countries and it look for commitment of main actors of them , so they can spread culture to obtain peace.

Among the activities the World Boxing Council will develop it highlights the plantation of the Olive of the Peace during the World Championship bouts. The first event will take place in May 7 in Las Vegas. The WBC will also develop an educational program named “BoxVal” , it will be an important tool to form values through boxing. The essence of the sport teaches and promotes integration and teamwork, to prioritize the common good over the personal. This experience tries to harmonize the development of the kids and the youth in a vulnerability situation.

This program looks to help and support kids from 7 to 18 in a vulnerability context with socio educational issues. BoxVal will reach to this kids through boxing schools, neighborhood clubs and other organizations that educate through the sport with the main intentions of spreading values.

“It is an honor to the World Boxing Council, being received by the Holy Father and support worldwide to Scholas Foundation” Don Mauricio Sulaiman claimed. The WBC President also presented to the Holy Father, a World Champion Belt of Peace and a pair of boxing gloves, which were signed by the Holy Father and he donated Scholas Occurrentes for financing its educational programs.


Meanwhile, Jose Maria del Corral, thanked the social work that boxing is doing in the Latin America neighborhoods and systematizing the efforts to make reality the Holy Father desires of joining Sports and Education..
