At least 16 people have been killed after a fire swept through a nursing home in northwestern Mexico, authorities say.
The incident took place on Tuesday at a nursing home for elderly people in the northern border city of Tijuana.
Tijuana's mayor, Jaime Diaz Ochoa, said at a press conference that the fire had erupted at the facility in the early hours of the day.
About five others were rushed to hospital for burns while 23 others were taken to a temporary shelter.
The identities of those killed in the fire have not been released and the cause of the fire remains known.
Tijuana, in Baja California State, is located along the Mexican border with the United States.
