Tehran’s interim Friday Prayer Leader, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Movahhedi Kermani, has said it is naïve and simple-minded to think that the United States will change its approach and policies vis-à-vis Iran.

According to IRIB World Service, addressing a huge crowd of Friday prayer worshippers and the faithful in Tehran, Ayatollah Movahhedi Kermani stressed that Iran will not allow America’s influence and hegemony to “infiltrate the country”. He pointedly added: “America knows that it must choose the cultural route for political domination (hegemony) in this region”.

Tehran’s interim Friday prayers Leader went on to stress that Iran has dashed the hopes of the enemies who want to dominate this region, disappointing them time and time again. Ayatollah Movahhedi Kermani pointedly added: “The nuclear accord does not mean that there is peace and friendship between Iran and the United States ; far from it; In fact the Americans are hostile towards Islamic countries, such as Iran, as long as Islam exists. There will be “no reconciliation and mending of fences”.

In further remarks, Ayatollah Movahhedi Kermani said the nuclear talks between Iran and the 5+1 Group proved to the world the logic and righteousness of Iran’s position. He added: “We are not after nuclear weapons, the entire world knows this, and this was proved in the nuclear negotiations”.

Turning to Western efforts to divide Muslims, and drive a wedge between Islamic countries, Ayatollah Movahhedi Kermani said true Shiite Muslims will never insult the sanctities of Sunni Muslims , and thus those who commit such acts and insult Sunnis are not Shiite Muslims, and have no connection to Shia Islam whatsoever.

Turning to US support for the murderous Zionist regime of Israel, Ayatollah Movahhedi Kermani said : “America and its allies should know that the Islamic Republic of Iran will never cut its support for the Islamic resistance front, and we will continue to support the oppressed Palestinians, and their cause”.

Tehran’s interim Friday prayers Leader went on to criticize Saudi Arabia for its misguided policies within the region. Ayatollah Movahhedi Kermani said he hoped that the Saudis will eventually realize the error of their ways, and that they will bring to an end their crimes and atrocities in Yemen. Tehran’s interim Friday prayers Leader also said he was hopeful that the Takfiri terrorist group, ISIL , will be soundly defeated in both Iraq and Syria.
