'Anti-Iran claim show of US weakness'

Leader of Lebanon's Free Patriotic Movement Michel Aoun has described the recent US allegation against Iran as “irrational” and a sign of Washington's helplessness vis-à-vis the Islamic Republic.
On October 11, the US Justice Department accused Iran of involvement in a plot to assassinate Saudi Ambassador to Washington Adel Al-Jubeir with help from a suspected member of a Mexican drug cartel.
According to Press TV, Aoun said in a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi this accusation is irrational and stems from the United States' helplessness in facing Iran's growing power.
He added “As I have previously stressed, Iran has today turned into the superior power in the Middle East.”
Iran has categorically denied the US accusation, saying it is a “ludicrous” claim based on the joint US-Israel posture against the Islamic Republic.
In a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Saturday, Iran's mission to the UN formally refuted the US allegation, declaring Tehran is committed to the provisions of the 1973 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes against Internationally Protected Persons.
Referring to the US's direct and indirect role in acts of terror, Roknabadi said that Iran has 100 valid documents testifying to Washington's involvement in many acts of terror.
