IRI Foreign Ministry has summoned the Swiss charge d'affaires Georg Steiner to object to US involvement in terrorist activities against the Islamic Republic.
Since Iran cut diplomatic ties with the US some 33 years ago, the Swiss Embassy in Tehran has represented Washington's interests in the country.
The development came on Friday and after earlier revelations about the US role in anti-Iran terrorist operations by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday, a Foreign Ministry statement said.
According to the statement, the head of the North America Bureau of IRI Foreign Ministry told the Swiss diplomat that Iran had credible documents to prove Washington's support for and involvement in terrorist operations targeting Iranian officials and scientists among other things.
He added that the US behavior contradicts its international obligations and urged Washington to immediately stop interfering in Iran's internal affairs through terrorist activities.
The Iranian official added that due to the undeniable authenticity of existing documents, the US government will be held accountable for any future act of terrorism against Iranian officials or targets.
Steiner, who was summoned in the absence of the Swiss Ambassador, said he would convey Tehran's message to Washington and relay their response back to the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
