President Rouhani confers with Chinese counterpart in Bishkek

President of Iran Hassan Rouhani met with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in this Kyrgyz capital city on Thursday.


The meeting between Dr.Rouhani and Jinping was held on the sidelines of the 13th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Bishkek on Thursday.

President Hassan Rouhani and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in a meeting have discussed major international and regional issues including latest developments in Syria.

The two presidents also reviewed Tehran-Bejing economic relations and confer about ways to promote bilateral ties and implementation of petroleum projects.

President Rouhani said 'Iran-China ties always based on friendship and had an increasing trend.'

Referring to the historic record of Iran-China ties, Dr.Rouhani said that Iran has always considered promoting ties with China as a powerful country in the region.

Dr.Rouhani referring to the Syrian crisis, said that Iran and China have common stances in most of the regional and international issues, added: "Tehran is ready to cooperate with Beijing to help resolve regional issues, the Syrian crisis, in particular."

Jinping, for his part, appreciated Presidnet Rouhani for his stance about promoting bilateral relations and said that the Chinese nation and government favor growing ties with Iran in all the fields.

He added that China will do its best to maintain and promote mutual cooperation at the regional and international levels and it has always indicated its goodwill in this respect.

Underlining Iran's right to peaceful nuclear technology, he also said that China backs Iran's legitimate rights to access peaceful nuclear energy.

As to Syrian crisis, Jinping noted that his country advocates removal of hostility across the region and favors a peaceful approach towards the Syrian crisis.

“China will ask UN to consider a diplomatic solution as the sole solution to the crisis gripping the Arab state,” he said.

Chinese president also emphasizing the important role of Iran stressed on the cooperation between Iran and China to create a suitable platform and environment for a peaceful resolution of the Syrian crisis.

The Chinese President invited President Rouhani to visit Beijing in future.
